It is the world boiled down into 49 square miles. Known for the Golden Gate Bridge and the notorious Alcatraz prison, it is a wonder and in our top 5 of US cities to visit.
We would recommend you find one of the quaint boutique hotels in Union Square to call your homebase for a visit. It is ridiculously easy to get around in this city via public transportation. You can secure a 3 day pass that will allow you access to the BART, local transit and even the trolley. Use your time to visit the many national districts in this amazing city. You can find Handmade fortune cookies in Chinatown, a fantastic meal in little Italy and do not forget to climb Russian Hill! If you are a foodie like us you will NOT be disappointed. From world class sushi near the tenderloin and tacos in the mission district to Prime rib on Russian Hill and of course not trip to San Francisco would be complete without having an Irish Coffee at the world famous Buena Vista Cafe. Be sure to catch Breakfast at Mamas in Washington Square, but remember they are closed on Mondays. We assure you is is worth the wait in line!
Last time we were here we walked almost 30 miles in 3 days (including two trips accross the Golden Gate Bridge) and loved absolutely every second.
