It is a financial hub known in American movies as a safe haven for hidden money and large offshore accounts. You know . . . Gordon Gecko kind of stuff. It is also a large Cruise boat port and that is what brought us to this beautiful place.
Once you clear the jewelry shops and the nick nack and souvenir stands at the docks, there is really only one place to go in Georgetown. 7 Mile Beach baby! Literally 7 miles of some of the most pristine beaches in the caribean. Pick a taxi, any taxi and they will take you there. It is best to pay a few dollars to a club for access to the beach. Inside you will have acccess to the sand, bars and restaurants. The currencey accepted is the US Dollar and you better have plenty because this gem is expensive. A few hours at the beach, a snack and a couple drinks and we were liberated of a couple Benjamin Frankilns.
The beach is beautiful, the water is warm and the drinks are cool. If you are lucky enough, you just may see a beachside wedding or proposal while you are here.
